Boy-friend weekend

I had the most awesome weekend. My boy-friend was here! We had a great time.

We played on the beach:

We made a nice long walk in the dunes:

After that, we chilled together:

It was splendid and terrific and totally cool. He is gone now, gone to his own home. Which makes me a bit sad. I do hope I will see him again, soon!

Boy-friend weekend!

I had the most thrilling weekend. My boy-friend stayed with us! I adore him:

When we meet we always do really cool things. Like cruising in a flashy car, along the beach:

We played for hours:

He is very good at throwing the frisbee:

I have to run really hard to catch it!

It was pretty awesome. He has gone home now and I am going to sleep and dream of our adventures. Goodnight!

Tough weekend

I had a really tough weekend. There is a new and big responsibility pressing on my slender shoulders, as we say in Holland. M and P bought a new camper and this one is even nicer than the old one. It is my job to guard it, of course. I chase away every human, canine and squirrel that dares to come near our new van. This is it:

We just returned from a three day trip, our first in this new van. It was quite exciting. We made long walks through the woods and over dunes-without-sea (they puzzle me – where did all the water go?).

We even did a walk which apparently is especially for dogs. M pointed out to me that the signs are made for us:

IMG_20160228_110709279

I think this is very funny. We dogs do not need signs, we find our way through the woods easily! Ha, silly humans.

In the nights it became very cold, so I made sure I was warm enough. My coat is pretty and sleek, made for the heat of Greece (where I come from), not the coldness of the north. So I took the right measures to stay warm during the night.

I did not mind sharing my bed with M and P, I am a social dog.

It was a nice trip, but I am very tired now because I hardly slept. I had to guard the van, right? Although the campsite seemed deserted, this was not so. There were squirrels laughing in the trees, rabbits running about and even some chicken prying at our nice new camper. I gave them my special look, so they did not dare to come close.

Awesome weekend

I have an awesome weekend because my boy-friend is here! He is a really cool kid. We went out together in my cargobike:

We went to the beach! We played frisbee:

He can throw really far! We also did some swimming, although the water was cold – but that won’t stop us, we are tough!

We played for hours and hours. After that, we rested in the sun. I gave him my bed, so he had something soft to sleep on.

It is very, very nice. I really love him.

Great weekend

I had a great weekend. M and P packed the campervan – again. They just can’t get enough of it, apparently. It is nice to be with humans who like to go on an Adventure so often! This is where we went:

Veluwe5

A campsite inside a national park in the Netherlands. It is a very pretty spot, green and quiet. What is extra special about this park: they have bikes, free to use for visitors. M and P both took a bike and I ran beside them (I’m not very good at cycling, I rather run). That is how we explored the park.

Veluwe3

M tells me I ran about 35 kilometers in this entire weekend. That’s a lot! I liked it, but it was a bit exhausting, too. It is good we stopped often, to relax.

Veluwe4

We explored the great woods in the park….

Veluwe6

We got up very early to see the sun rise above the moorlands.

Veluwe2

We even encountered some wildlife. There is a lot of game in this park, I smelled it all around us.

Veluwe7

It was a great weekend. Another Adventure!

Hiking

We went hiking! We drove to a new place, a place I had never been before. We went to a house where we had our own room for the night. We sometimes do this and I always think it very odd, because there are lots of unfamiliar smells in these rooms. M puts my bed on the floor and my water and food bowls next to it and tells me this is our home for now, but it never feels like home to me. Anyway, I knew there was an Adventure ahead when they spread this on the bed:

Oh dear

It is a piece of paper and M looks at it a lot, when we are hiking. P does not, he has this black device where he looks at (a lot). The thing even talks to him, and sometimes P talks to it, too. There are certain things a dog will never understand and that is fine, I am learning as I am growing up.

So we hiked and it was nice. The woods are beautiful over there:

Beautiful woods

There were vast dunes, although no sea – for some reason all the water was gone:

In the dunes

We hiked past some houses along a quiet street. There was a traffic sign telling humans to take care and slow down, for the sake of dogs. How thoughtful!

How thoughtful

We had a great hike. The device that is talking to P showed us what we had walked. M and P really like this, so I will show it to you, for their sake. I personally think it is silly because this is not what we hiked: there is no smell and no taste and no sound to it and that is what makes a good hike.

What is even more silly: they use this device for navigation. But they don’t need navigation when they are with me! I will bring them back to our car or home anytime, they just need to tell me where they want to go. I never get lost. If I had known we were heading for our car, I would have brought them there immediately. But no, they had to figure it out themselves, with the help of the paper M carried and the device of P. That is why our hike ended up looking like this:

Our route

Not very effective, right? But well, it was a nice hike.

By the way, there was one disappointing thing: there were no squirrels, no matter how hard I looked.

Alert but no squirrels

Wonderful winter walk

We had a wonderful winter walk this morning. The weather was fine, nice and sunny. In the shadowy spots the ground was still frozen, but where the sun had warmed the earth the ice had melted away. Which is good, because one can’t smell a lot on frozen things, even with an exceptionally sensitive nose as mine.

We walked along the canal to the forest. It turned out to be pretty busy, a lot of humans and dogs were walking there. I am a bit cautious in the forest, because sometimes I encounter bad mannered dogs in this place. So when I sense another dog, I stop and smell the air:

Winter walk 1

Gladly, there were only well mannered dogs today (for instance my friend Juna). So we got on and enjoyed the walk. It is a very pretty place:

Winter walk 2

We walked on and gradually the forest got thinner and the sandy dunes appeared. This is a nice place, because one can see very far:

Winter walk 3

After enjoying the view we walked on to the beach. I love the beach. When I get onto the beach I run:

Winter walk 4

I run very fast:

Winter walk 5

There were a lot of dogs to run and play with, which was nice. I really enjoy doing that, I like it best when I can fetch their balls. I always get there first, you know, because I am the fastest dog on the beach:

Winter walk 6

I ran and ran and fetched balls and then we walked through the forest back to our home. It was great fun. When we got home, I went upstairs to my favorite chair and look: the sun was shining directly on it! Very nice. I will sleep the rest of the day and wake up when M has my dinner ready.

Misty morning

I am sure it is a Sunday today, usually a day when I have to make a lot of effort to wake M or P and have them go out with me. But not today! M woke me when it was still dark. I did not feel like getting up, I had such a nice dream about ducks when she woke me. Besides, I really like my new snoozebag.  It is warm, while outside it was very cold this morning.

But M insisted, so I got up and we walked and had breakfast. Then we went into our campervan and drove to a place that is a bit familiar to me. We had hunting training there before, but I thought we had stopped this training, because our trainer Ilse resigned.

It turned out we went to a new school! There were a lot of other dogs I don’t know, and people too. It was all very thrilling, but it was a big disappointment to me to discover this school also trains with stupid dummies. I told you before about them: they are made of cotton and filled with sand. They do not resemble the wild ducks or rabbits I am designed for to hunt. Not in a million smells!

So I decided not to fetch them. I want to work with the real stuff. The other dogs did fetch them, but hey, they were labradors and retrievers. I think M was a bit disappointed in me, although I did the obedience part very well. Like sitting when she asked, and staying and running to her when she called me, past the other dogs. I even ran past a labrador-beagle mix I really would have liked to measure forces with. But I did not, so M was proud of me. And we did enjoy the countryside, the weather was fine:

Misty morning

I don’t think we will go to this training again, because I did not fetch the dummies. I hope M will find a school where we train with real prey! That would be swell. We are home again, now, so I will sleep the rest of the afternoon and dream about hunting ducks and rabbits.

Guarding the beach

I had a great day, yesterday. We walked my favorite route: along the canal, through the forest to the dunes and then to the beach. M and P had a coffee at their favorite beach club and I enjoyed the view. And did some guarding, of course. That was easy, because as you can see it was very quiet:

Guarding the beach

After the coffee we returned home, through the dunes and the forest and the canal, again. There I met my friend the labradoodle (I will post her picture another time) and we ran around for some while – I love her furry coat, it is great for biting! She does this doggy dancing training, which I find hilarious. I tease her a lot about this, she gets really pissed and chases after me, haha!

Anyway, after all this walking and running I was really tired, so I slept for the rest of the afternoon. Nice.

Breakfast

I had a wonderful weekend. We went to the beach every day, I chased seagulls and balls and I slept in the sun. And I had a splendid breakfast at the beachclub. I am not very picky when it comes to my breakfast, but I can tell you: this was top.

Breakfast

It was not just for me, I have to be honest about this. I had to share it with M and P, my other boss. I am living with M and P, did I mention this before? Anyway, the breakfast was smelling great and I thought it was for me, but one can never be sure (M likes food so much she sometimes forgets to share). So I used my Method™. I am very successful in this. And since I am a social dog, I will share it with you, for FREE. So you can benefit from it too, next time your human is eating something great.

This is the Method™:

Method cropped.jpg

Sometimes you have to do this for a long time before your human gets the idea, but dogs don’t mind. Humans have watches, dogs have time, right? I will summarize the Method™, so you can learn it by heart:

  • Put your head on your human’s leg (when he/she is sitting, otherwise it won’t work);
  • Give him/her your sweetest look. This look should tell him/her two things: you are the best boss in the world & I will die from hunger if you won’t give me what you are eating;
  • Never give up.

Just try it, it always works.
