Did I tell you our new home is next to the beach? We already went to the beach a lot, but now we go there all the time. I love it!

Exciting encounter
We just returned from a long walk in the dunes and on the beach. It is cold outside, winter is here!
I don’t mind the cold. As long as I keep moving I am warm. So I was glad when we were on the beach, so I could run.
However, after a while I slowed my pace, because there was something very awkward moving on the beach:
It was slithering over the sand (one can hardly call that movement walking) and it was not amused to see us. It made noises and M said: “I don’t think it likes us being here.” Well, I am certain it did not like us, because I could understand what it said. I won’t repeat it here, but it was very clear. Sea creatures use some rough language!
We never met a sea creature like this before. I cautiously investigated it, from a distance – one never knows how wild creatures react and I like my dainty nose. Anyway: it smelled like salt. Fishy things. Exciting!
Beautiful day for a walk
We walk every day, of course we do! Humans have to get out at least twice a day, you know. Into the great outdoors. Or to the dog park. This week we made a lot of walks and this was the nicest one. The weather was splendid, autumn bliss.
We walked in the dunes. First we entered the dune-forest and then we went out into the open, climbing the little sandy hills:
And then, the best part of all: we were on the beach! I love the beach. There is no place more splendid.
Changing paths
We just got back from a walk in the dunes. We go there a lot, almost every day, and I never tire of it. It is a wonderful place, with a myriad of smells: salty water, rabbits and foxes and birds.
There are a lot of paths, big broad ones and small ones that are more like trails. The little ones seem to change all the time and I really like that. Old ones are closing and new ones are opening. We discovered a new one, just now:
Nice!
Discoveries
M and I have been exploring the surroundings of our house for a long time now – M says for 3,5 years. And still we find new places! I think that is amazing.
Take this spot. We were walking in the dunes, we go there often, and took a narrow path that winds through the tall grass . It lead us to this lovely spot:
It had lots of odd looking prickly plants and nice soft sand. The wind carried the salty smell of the sea, which is never far off where I live. Nice! You see: we do not have to go far to have adventures. Just keep exploring!
Awesome weekend
I have an awesome weekend because my boy-friend is here! He is a really cool kid. We went out together in my cargobike:
We went to the beach! We played frisbee:
He can throw really far! We also did some swimming, although the water was cold – but that won’t stop us, we are tough!
We played for hours and hours. After that, we rested in the sun. I gave him my bed, so he had something soft to sleep on.
It is very, very nice. I really love him.
Squid
We are still in Croatia and we moved from the inland (truffle country) to the sea. That means we are in squid territory now! I was hoping to get the change to eat new things this holiday and I am glad M and P honoured my wishes. This is what we eat here:
M and P like it very much and they share it with me. It is grilled squid and it tastes de-li-cious.
I thought it might be a good idea to help M and P a bit, by catching some squid myself. I was planning to do some squid hunting, I am sure there are lots of squids in the sea here. So I looked very carefully into the deep waters. I saw one, but it was very little so not worth getting wet all over.
In the end I did not find a juicy squid that was big enough. Too bad. It turns out to be an easier option for M and P to buy grilled squid in a restaurant and share it with me. Well, at least I tried.
Great weather!
The weather is great today: nice and sunny and warm. I am glad it is getting warmer, I like to feel the warmth of the sun on my fur. It makes me very relaxed.
Today we walked to a new place – a place near the beach where we go a lot, but here I had never been before. It is a big stretch of concrete, a long way into the sea. Kind of a street in the water. There were lots of humans fishing and it smelled yummy. They did not give me any fish though, although I really gave my best look to convince them. Strange. When I was little I looked very cute, could this be changing now I am growing up? I hope not. I will make some extra effort in looking cute.
