I got a really nice present today. Winter is coming and it is getting colder, so M thought I might be cold in the nights. We all sleep in the same room and M and P like to keep this room cool. I don’t mind, but I do have to admit I am not very well suited for cold weather. You see, my coat is made for the country where I was born: Greece. My hairs are very short and on my tummy there is not enough of it to keep me warm. When we are out I run to keep myself warm, but when I am sleeping I cannot do that, of course.
So I like this present! It is a snoozebag and it was made especially for me. It is big enough for me to lie in. I am glad that M respected my taste in this and chose an elegant black-and-white motif, with a classy neutral grey on the outside. Like I told you before: one has to be stylish, always!
Now I can sleep nice and warm. M told me she bought this from a lady who makes these snoozebags and donates the money to the foundation where I came from. That is a nice thought. I will sleep warm and my fellow former stray dogs in the shelter in Athens have something to eat and sleep on, too.
If you want a snoozebag too, just tell your human to go to this Facebooksite. If your human is not very receptive to your hints (some of them can have really big bananas in their ears!), just go to the Facebooksite yourself when your human is not around and keep the computer turned on, so he will see it when he comes home. That should do the trick. Good luck!
This afternoon I am home alone. M and P are out, something to do with what they call working. I don’t know what they are doing, but I am fine with it, because they always return.
When I am home alone I usually lie in the chair on the second floor, from where I can oversee my street. It is a good spot for guarding. But today I don’t feel like guarding. This is one of these days when I am sooooooo sleepy. Do you ever have this? I just lie down and snooze all afternoon. I hope I’ll have some nice dreams.
I’d like you to meet Fred, my gentleman friend. He lives in the street behind us, that is how we know each other. He is a true gentleman and a full blood whippet. He walks in a graceful way and when he sees me, he gets so happy it looks as if he dances. He is kindhearted and very sensitive – one growl from another dog can make him wonder for days what he did to deserve it.
When I am with him, he lets me sleep on his bed and play with his toys – he has furry squeaky toys, I love them. M won’t buy them for me because she says I would rip them apart. Well, yes, I would. That is what they are for!
When I was little, I shared my bed with Fred:
I don’t do that anymore, of course, I am almost grown up! But we do go out together, sometimes. We like sniffing the air for cats and squirrels. Like me, he is super fast. M keeps us on a leash when we are out together, so unfortunately so far we never had the change to test which one of us is faster.
I think I am the fastest, but I am not entirely sure about this. Fred is bred for the races, you know, so he could be a tiny bit faster than I.
Hurray, I am home and the beach is still here! We went there today, I ran next to our cargobike. The path to the beach is nice too, it is lined with lots of smells (rabbits! rabbit shit! foxes!). This is what the path looks like – and me running next to the bike:
Then we take a sharp turn to the right and we park the bike, overlooking the sea. The leash is off and I am off! Off to the beach:
Today it was very quiet, there weren’t a lot of other dogs to play with, alas. But M and P threw ball for me, which was great. I love this beach. I think it is the best beach in the world. What is your favorite beach?
M and P do like very long holidays, I was wondering if we were ever going home. I am glad to say we did, we are home again! I am happy to be in my own house again, where my soft beds are (one on every floor!) and the cargobike and the beach and my friends. I missed them. On the first little walk near our house I smelled the air of new dogs too – I can’t wait to check them out. Being on holiday is nice. But it is also tiring, because of all the new things we do every day. Also the guarding of the campervan and of M and P is tiresome. You have to be alert all the time, never knowing when the enemy will strike:
I have to recover from all my adventures now, so I am going to sleep for the next days. See you later!
