Today is a special day in Holland: it is King’s Day! This means there are a lot of festivities, especially markets. This morning M and P and I went to the traditional plants market in the centre of our town. There were a lot of, well, plants. And humans and smells. It was interesting. M dressed me up with a little orange collar, because orange is the colour of King’s Day. I don’t like be dressed up, but I guess this is okay. It is just a collar, not a sweater or something silly like that.
We went there by cargobike and I ran next to it most of the time! It was exciting and exhausting. When we came home I wanted to rest in my favorite snooze chair. But I was a bit distressed to see that my street had turned into some kind of parking lot. On the grass where I normally sniff and run and play suddenly a lot of cars had appeared!
M tells me there are loads of humans visiting our neighbourhood because of the market held here. Not the plant market, that is in the town centre, but a market where humans sell the things they do not need anymore, for cheap. So other humans can buy these things, things they probably do not need either but that is not the point, M tells me. It is something called bargain hunting and humans like that. Humans do puzzle me. Where is the fun in hunting for stuff you do not need? If they would hunt rabbits or foxes I would understand. But stuff?
Anyway, M tells me this market will be over by the end of the day and all the cars will be gone. Good. I need that grass tonight, for my toilet.
Today is a beautiful day in Holland. There is sunshine, white clouds, grey clouds and showers and a little bit of wind. I like that, it is adventurous weather! But not too adventurous, not the kind of weather that tosses my ears and makes my fur stand up in the wind. I like that weather too, but it is more tiring. Weather like this:
So the weather today is fine and so is the morning. I am not a morning person, I told you before, but that does not mean I do not like to go out in the morning. I love to go out in the morning, to do a lazy walk, sniff the air, enjoy the wet grass under my slender feet. I am totally happy, I just do not feel like playing with other dogs in the morning, that’s all.
Just in front of our house is a nice area with water and grass and little trees, where I can stroll at leasure. Sometimes I chase ducks and then I run, but most of the times I just potter around, investigating.
Like I did this morning. When we came back we had breakfast and now I am snoozing in my favorite chair. We will go on a longer walk later in the day, I am sure. M is busy writing a new story, a thriller for another customer, the second one she is writing. She is happy and so am I. Although I would never want to write a book, it is way too long and therefore too much work. Blogging is perfect for me.
Sometimes a dog just has to do what her human tells her, to make her human happy. Even if you do not see the point in doing it. We were walking near a pretty field of flowers and P just had to make a picture of me. So I put on my ‘I am a very sweet dog-face’ and sat pretty for the picture.
After that, I had to walk along with P, on the leash. Too bad. I would really have liked to crash through these pretty flowers, tossing all their fluttery leaves high up in the air.
