Mountain wildlife

M tells me we are in the south of Germany and these mountains are called The Alps. I don’t care much about the name of the place, but I do like it here, very much. We make nice long walks and we are camping in our new campervan. When we walk M and P like to stop and have a drink and some food and they share it with me – so far I ate speck, big chunks of pancake called Kaiserschmarrn and schnitzel. So these mountains aren’t only great for walking, but also for eating out!

When we walk I smell loads of wildlife. The mountains must be swarming with it! Yesterday we sat for some drink at a place where a special kind of wildlife was roaming free. They came very close. I would have loved to catch them, they looked big and fat and juicy. Alas, M had me on a tight leash. Which was not fair. I have dreams about this wildlife now… In those dreams I do catch one of these big chunky birds and tear them to pieces. I think they will taste like Kaiserschmarrn. My mouth is watering!

Gift: a hike!

Alas, I did not get the mountain cat I asked for on my birthday. Instead M and P gave me something else, which was pretty awesome too: a hike! We hiked for three days in Germany and it was really nice. The woods there are huge, with lots of mysterious paths.

I first thought my mountain cat was waiting for me there but nope, there were none. I did see some squirrels and a lot of birds. There was a myriad of smells for me to discover and nice views for M and P to enjoy.

Hiking1

We saw a lot of mushrooms, like these (not inhabited, they are too small for that):

Hiking3

And huge trees everywhere in the woods. Home to squirrels and unfortunately not very suitable for climbing by dogs (I should do something about that and get me some training on how to climb trees. It could be handy when chasing squirrels).

Hiking2

There were big trees in the little villages we visited too!

Hiking5

It smelled of autumn and a little bit of winter too, with a cold tinge in the air. I am glad we slept in hotels that were cosy and warm, so I could snooze in the sun while processing all the smells and sounds I gathered during the day.

Snoozing

I had a great birthday!

Four day hike

We just returned from a great Adventure. We hiked for four days in the hills of (M tells me) Germany! It was awesome. There were lots of pretty paths.

M and P were happy and so was I. I ran over the hills.

We walked through fields…

And forests….

Eifel6

And more fields….

Eifel8

There was a field that was extremely smelly – it was full of shit! Manure, M tells me it is called. I crashed trough it. Great!

Eifel7

We visited nice little towns, too. There we took small breaks. It is important to rest after and during activities, you know.

We slept in places like this:

Pretty, hey? I slept next to P. Cosy.

It wasn’t all easy, though. I had to do a lot of guarding, scanning the surroundings to make sure we were safe:

Eifel3

We encountered some wildlife. I chased a lot of mice, a fox and a hare. I could have caught them easily, of course. But in the end I let them all escape, because I was in a peaceful mood. I just liked to chase them.

Eifel15

We encountered some strange animals, too. I found them quite disturbing because they did not behave like they should – they came to me, instead of running from me. I wasn’t too sure what to think of them. Happily there was a solid fence that protected us from these beasts.

Eifel16

M tells me we walked 65 kilometers, but I don’t know what that means. I can tell we walked all day and my muscles got even stronger. Good. It was fun!

Now I need to sleep. Goodnight!
