Woodland creatures

This is odd. We walked one of our favorite paths in the dune-forest and encountered something new. Man made, no doubt, but odd nevertheless. I approached it carefully, one never knows what things like this will do:

When I was near, I smelled it was a tree. They pulled a tree out of the ground and put it back in the earth again, upside down! Silly humans.

I do not think the tree likes it, regardless of the pretty face it has now. I think it gets a little nauseous standing upside down. Next time we walk here – and M isn’t looking – I will push it over and dig it in, so it will be feeling okay again.

Snowy home

So P is back home and he took the snow with him! It is amazing, the things he can do… This morning when we went on our first little walk the world suddenly had changed. Yesterday I smelled the air and sensed something was coming, but I did not know what to expect. This morning it became clear what I had smelled.

The paths and trees and everything is covered in a thin layer of soft cool stuff that tickles between my toes. It is cold and therefore there is not much to smell – the earth holds her breath in the cold, you know. Everything is quiet. How did P manage to do this?

Wander weekend

I had a great weekend. We went camping, M and I!

We wandered in the woods and followed all kinds of small paths. When we did not know which way to go, we chose the path that smelled the most inviting.

We had Adventures along the way, too. We encountered a herd of enormous beasts! Some of them were pitch black and looked very impressive. We made a little detour, of course, what do you expect? It is the only sensible way to do when one encounters beasts. Especially when they come in a herd.

After this I had to be extra alert, in case we would encounter more of them…

Happily, we did not. From then on everything was peaceful and quiet in the woods.

In the night, M and I slept cosily together in the bed. At home I have my own beds, but in the campervan we share. We nestle close together under the blanket, so we both stay warm.

In the morning we had pancakes and coffee! Well, just pancakes for me, M still won’t give me coffee. I don’t know why, it would surely help with my morning temper. It does with M’s…

After breakfast we waited for the rain to stop.

Then we went wandering again. We went through rough grassy land…

And along broad avenues lined with ancient trees.

When we broke up and drove away I thought we were going home, but M had a surprise for me. We stopped at the home of my boy-friend! It was great to see him.

You can imagine I had a grand weekend. We wandered through the woods, explored grassy lands, escaped a herd of dangerous beasts, ate pancakes and slept in one warm bed and on top of all that I played and cuddled with my friend. I am one happy dog.

Paths

M and I, we walk a lot. Sometimes P comes with us, but mostly M and I walk together. We go to the beach and the dunes and the forest. We walk, stroll, trot and hike. I like to run a bit too, waiting now and then for M to catch up with me.

Long walk 1

We live in a city, but happily we have nature close by. Although it is humanized nature, if you know what I mean: not the mountains and huge woods and empty coasts we visit when we travel, but nature that is designed by humans. With broad paths and roads.

But happily, when you know where to look, there are also little paths and secret places to find. One has to be very attentive to get to know them. Sometimes they do not look like a path at all, until you round a specific bush or tree and then it stretches out before you: a small and winding path, all the way through the dunes or the forest.

Those are the paths that we like best. It feels like they are our paths, known only to us, to explore and have Adventures along the way. Trotting along paths like this make me truly happy.

Forest bliss

What can I say. Woods, little paths, a myriad of smells, little woodland things that tickle between my toes. Bliss!

I slept a little extra for a few days, recovering from my holiday with Nicoline. Holidays with her and her pack are nice, but strenuous like a bootcamp. A bootcamp for a week! So I was tired. But not anymore. I am ready for some running in the woods and on the beach!

Old lady

I had the pleasure of seeing my old friend again, movie star Hester. It has been a while since I saw her – she is very old and doesn’t go to the beach anymore. But yesterday she had a good day and we went to the woods together. She still looks gorgeous, by the way.

It was fun. The sun was shining and Hester pottered around happily, sniffing here and there. I was actively investigating our surroundings, in case there was a squirrel passing by or a dangerous dog approaching. Nothing of the kind happened. We just had a happy walk.

Which is a good thing, especially with old friends.

Holiday with the bandidos

This new year started with a surprise for me. A not so good and a good surprise in one: M and P packed their bags and have gone on a holiday, without me. Not so good. I went to Nicoline to have my own holiday. Good.

You can see I have mixed feelings about this. But, as a dog, I usually think positive. You know me: always on the bright side. And I think my own holiday will turn out fine. Because I am not only with Nicoline, but with my favorite pack, too! The Bandidos! Boss is here, and Stitch and Swiff and a lot of other rough friends. We will have loads of fun. Chasing each other on the beach and all that.

Nicoline and friends

You won’t hear from me for some time, because being with the Bandidos is hard work. There won’t be any time for quiet writing. Sorry about that! I will tell you all about my adventures later. So long!
