Wander weekend

I had a great weekend. We went camping, M and I!

We wandered in the woods and followed all kinds of small paths. When we did not know which way to go, we chose the path that smelled the most inviting.

We had Adventures along the way, too. We encountered a herd of enormous beasts! Some of them were pitch black and looked very impressive. We made a little detour, of course, what do you expect? It is the only sensible way to do when one encounters beasts. Especially when they come in a herd.

After this I had to be extra alert, in case we would encounter more of them…

Happily, we did not. From then on everything was peaceful and quiet in the woods.

In the night, M and I slept cosily together in the bed. At home I have my own beds, but in the campervan we share. We nestle close together under the blanket, so we both stay warm.

In the morning we had pancakes and coffee! Well, just pancakes for me, M still won’t give me coffee. I don’t know why, it would surely help with my morning temper. It does with M’s…

After breakfast we waited for the rain to stop.

Then we went wandering again. We went through rough grassy land…

And along broad avenues lined with ancient trees.

When we broke up and drove away I thought we were going home, but M had a surprise for me. We stopped at the home of my boy-friend! It was great to see him.

You can imagine I had a grand weekend. We wandered through the woods, explored grassy lands, escaped a herd of dangerous beasts, ate pancakes and slept in one warm bed and on top of all that I played and cuddled with my friend. I am one happy dog.

Not a morning dog

Most of the dogs in my neighborhood know this by now: I am not sociable in the morning. Humans say they are ‘not a morning person’ – I am not a morning dog. When I wake up, there is only one thing on my mind: I want to go to the toilet and that’s it.  After that I want food and then I go back to bed again.

So when we go out in the morning, usually I go out with P because M is not a morning person either, I do just that: look for some grass that is suitable to be my toilet. When I meet another dog who wants to sniff me or play with me, I growl. When the other dog persists (some can be such mutts) I snap.

When M gets out of bed, she needs coffee before one can speak to her. I think that would be good for me, too. I think I would be much more friendly if I could have a coffee too. Besides, I am from Greece. All Greeks drink a cup of dark and muddy coffee when they wake up. So why not me? It is not fair that M and P refuse to give me coffee, saying it is not healthy for dogs. Since they persist, they will have to cope with my morning moods. And so do all the dogs in my neighborhood.

Cup of dog

My humans are great coffee lovers. I like coffee myself, being a Greek dog I prefer it hot and with some texture to grind between my teeth. P prefers Italian coffee like espresso, preferably made from fair trade beans roasted by small artisanal coffee makers. M likes that too, but in a creamy latte. Yes, my humans make a great fuss about food and drinks. I totally understand, food is my top priority, too! Although I do not mind who made it, as long as I get it.

So this is what happens (a lot) when we go for a walk. We walk and I run and we walk and then we sit down to have a nice drink and sometimes some food, too. This time I was alone with P. Usually I have to scan the surroundings to make sure we are safe. The beach was deserted, as you can see, so I had plenty of time to look cute for the picture.
