Stormy skies

The weather is stormy today. We went to the beach and my ears just flew with the wind! Like in this pic – this is an old one of me and some of the Bandidos. I do not have a pic of this morning, the weather was so bad that M did not want to use the camera!

I like it when the weather is rough. It makes me feel very energetic, it is even more fun to run at the beach when the wind is blowing into my ears and fur!

By the way: I do not have pics of our new home yet. M tells me it will take some months before we move, so I won’t be able to check it out for some time. She also tells me we’ll stay in the same city and will walk the same dune-forest and beach. So my hunting grounds won’t change. Nice.

Exciting walk

We made an exciting walk today. It was warm and sunny, nice weather for a walk. Although I think any weather is good for a walk, it is just great to be outdoors. We went to the dunes and the beach!

I did some good running and swam to cool down. When we walked back through the dunes we encountered some wildlife! This is me, spotting it:

Okay, it was not really wildlife, but it was roaming free so I considered it wildlife. And a suitable prey.

Unfortunately the feline just stayed there, watching me. That is not supposed to happen. They ought to run, so I can chase them! So when M insisted that I walked on with her, I did. Next time I hope it will run away from me.

Together

We take a walk every day and that is always nice, but sometimes it is something special. Today M and I had this kind of walk. I will try to explain why this one was special. It is not because we went to a new place, because we walked in the dunes and on the beach, like we often do. I think this one was special because we did it together.

This may sound strange to some humans (I bet the canines reading this will understand, though). One could say that all the walks we make are together, but that is not so. It is like this: sometimes when M is stuck in her writing she takes me out for a walk. While we walk she thinks about what is bothering her and I take the opportunity to smell and run and play with other dogs. We are out, but we are not really walking together. Not in the sense of togetherness. We both do our own things.

On our walk this morning we were truly walking together. We ran in the dunes and played games on the beach. I was totally focussed on her and she on me. When this is the case we are like a team, paying attention to our surroundings but not really interacting with other dogs nor humans. We have fun together. And that is awesome.

Red carpet

I knew when I started blogging that I would become famous one day. I’m happy to see this became true – my blog has been read thousands of times and more than 100 humans and canines subscribe to The Bubbles Diaries. More than 100! That is an amazing figure, they won’t even fit into my house!

I think this is awesome. I always wanted to be a famous dog, you know. From the moment I left the shelter and knew Great Things were awaiting me. So I was rather pleased when we went to the beach yesterday and I saw that some very thoughtful fans had rolled out the red carpet for me. A red carpet onto my favorite beach! I don’t know who did it, but I’d like to say: thank you. You know what a celebrity needs!

Happy new year

As a dog I am rather surprised about all this happy new year stuff. Humans make a lot of fuss about it, as if today will be very different from tomorrow because it will be a ‘new year’. Typical. The sun goes down and comes up again, which in itself is pretty magical every time she does that. Drawing a line between two days with an ‘old’ and a ‘new’ year is kind of…. technical.

Anyway: humans share a lot of ‘looking back on 2016’ news and that I do like. It got me thinking. It was a good year, you know. So I thought I’ll share my biggest adventures of 2016 with you.

This is The List of 2016:

February: camping for the first time with our new campervan. I guard it even more ferociously than I did before, with our old campervan. We went camping a lot this year, which was awesome.

Police adventure 2

March: helping the police to catch some burglars – that is a police officer you see in the picture, the burglars escaped. But we did find their tools!

May: exploring the woods around our home and discovering a new path that is known only to us.

Walk in Barolo

July: hiking in the hot hills of Italy.

Pijama nights 3

August: chilling in the high mountains of France.

September: cruising along the beach boulevard with my boy-friend.

November: exploring the vast woods around our favorite campsite.

I also want to mention the numerous times I was on the beach. We go there almost every day, so I can not call all these beach strolls a big adventure. But I do love them. There might not be a big adventure waiting there (although sometimes there is, like the times I assisted the police), but one never knows what little surprises we will encounter. They count too, you know.

Little fish!

Happy new year!

Beach life

I love the beach. We have it very near our house, so we go there almost every day. I love the spaciousness of it, I love sensing the silky sand underneath my feet, how soft it is and yet hard enough to give me a solid grip when I press my feet down to jump really high. I love the fresh water of the ocean to cool me down after some thorough running.

There are a lot of things I love to do on the beach. Like running, playing with other dogs, digging deep holes and fetching ball. When I am lucky there are seagulls for chasing. When I am even more lucky, there are funny little birds I do not know the name of. They are small, like little balls, they have very short legs but they can run so fast one does not see the legs anymore. Of course I am faster. Too bad they can fly.

No matter what the weather is like: the beach is always the best place to go.

Challenging nature

We dogs like to challenge nature. Not because we think we can win – that is a human perception, it is typical for silly humans to assume one can win from nature. No one can win from nature! But one can challenge her, in order to test ones strength. Which is an awesome thing to do.

Take gravity. What goes up will always come down. Balls, for instance. And labradors. But that won’t stop us from trying! Like one of my friends shows us here, he is one of the bandidos:

Jojo jumping

I am very good at testing gravity, too:

Some dogs need bigger challenges, so they explore even further. My friend Boss does, he likes to test the ocean. He tries to ride the waves:

He is truly awesome, isn’t he? Anyway: we like to challenge nature to test ourselves, to learn and develop ourselves into stronger beings. We like the play. Which is all the same thing, really. Have an awesome weekend and go explore what you are able to do!
