Something amazing has happened. I have been painted by a famous artist! Check this out:
We met the artist, his name is Jaap Lemstra, in the dunes on one of our long walks. He introduced himself and asked if he could paint me, because…. well, you will know, it is obvious: because of my good looks, of course!
I am truly happy we met him. The painting is awesome, I really like it. M put it in the best spot in our living room, so everyone who visits us can admire it.
Look what I found:
A statue of me! How nice. The colors aren’t right, this one is too white and the one in the background is too brown, but hey. I don’t mind, I think it is very flattering that someone tried to make a statue of me.
Although these aren’t as wonderful as the real me, of course.
Last weekend I walked in a pretty forest. There were nice little lakes where I looked for sticks to play with:
This forest is unfamiliar to me and that is nice, it means there are loads of things to discover. New scents and stuff like that. There was something else, something odd about the trees. There were faces, inside the trees!
M pointed them out to me. Of course I noticed them before she did, because I smelled the freshly carved wood and knew something had happened to the trees. Some humans had carved creatures in living trees. Strange.
There were humans walking around, looking at the woodcarvings and talking about them. They were so focussed on the works of art that they forgot to notice the other interesting things in the forest! Like the little frogs near the lake, a rabbit in the distance, mice hiding in the fallen leafs and a big bird of prey, hovering above us.
Silly humans. They seem to be capable of focussing only on one thing at a time, usually not the most important one, and forget everything around it. It is a miracle they are still here, and so many of them too.
I know I am a pretty dog. We dogs don’t fake, ever, and that includes modesty. So I won’t deny I’m beautiful. But I am impressed by the amount of art that has been made of me. I will share some of it with you, although this is just a small selection of it. It is astonishing, you must agree!
There are lots of statues of me, like these two:
There are extremely pretty objects modelled after me:
And there are paintings of me, although this artist didn’t get my colors right:
It is nice to know one has inspired so many artists to make beautiful things. It is a responsibility too, I am fully aware of that. It is my job to remain pretty and provide artists with inspiration. That is why I am practicing special poses, so they can use them for another great work of art. This is the arty pose I have been practicing lately, the finest till now. What do you think? Good enough for a painting, right?
