Look what I got:
A box full of surprises! All kinds of yummy things hidden in paper and little cups. I unwrapped them carefully and ate them all.
M gave it to me as a present, because today is the last day of the year 2017. Tomorrow it will be a new year with a new number, M tells me. Typical human to measure time in numbers – I think that is very odd. Anyway: they wish each other a happy new year, so I will do so too. I hope this new year will be full of adventures and happy surprises, for all of you! Happy new year!
In my last post I wrote about the work I do in the garden: guardening. But that is not the only thing I do out there. You see: we have a very nice garden. It is not a huge estate, but it is big enough to do several fab things. I like to sunbathe on the terrace. And investigate the plants:
Sometimes I bring Chuck out in the garden. Chuck is my prey. He stays indoors most of the time, the poor bastard. I know he is a little afraid to go out, begin a chicken and all that, but I think it is important for him to be in the Great Outdoors now and then. The garden is just what he can handle, so that is fine. I am sure he is grateful to me, for bringing him out into the fresh air.
There is something else I do in the garden, but that is a secret. No one knows, not even M, so please do not tell her. I would like to show it to you, though, because adventures tend to get even more exciting when shared. This is it, my Secret Project:
I am digging a tunnel! To… well, I do not exactly know where to. I guess I’ll find out when I get there.
You see: our garden is a great place to be!
M is packing. This is what I found, just now. It looks like we are up to a new Adventure.
I always find it a bit unnerving when she starts packing, because it can mean two things:
1. She is going away and I am not. Needless to say I am not very pleased when this happens, although I usually go and stay with Nicoline when M and P are away. Staying with Nicoline is nice, but I prefer being with my own humans.
2. I am going with M and P. I must admit I do have mixed feelings when this happens. I like going with them, it is thrilling to have Adventures together. But it is also a bit stressful for a dog to explore new territories. M and P are happily walking along, while I have to do the guarding. It is a big responsibility, for a dog. Of course I am up to that, I am a trustworthy and ferocious bodyguard by nature. I will just have to be even more alert than I normally am. I do hope they’ll give me some extra food for that, because it costs a lot of energy.
What M is packing now, is hiking gear. Usually when she packs this, I go with her! I hope I will, this time, too. And that P is coming as well. I will tell you all about it when I know more!
We are still in France, not in the mountains anymore, but in (M says) the Dordogne. It is nice here: there are hills and forests and sunshine. Yesterday we had an Adventure on the campsite. There are a lot of dogs here and usually we guard our own campervan / tent / caravan. But yesterday, we immediately recognized the urgency of the situation and we guarded the camping, as one. This is what attacked us. It was big and very noisy:
We barked, we growled, we showed our teeth. Even the tiny Bichon at the corner of the field joined us. And we succeeded: the big monsters went away! Oh yeah.
