Stretching

When M and I do doga together, we do different poses. Some of them I really like, for instance downward facing dog pose. Of course I like dog pose! I do this a lot, not only  in doga. This is the pose dogs use when they want to play. It is an invitation – for playing. In doga it is an invitation to relax, which is almost the same thing.

Some poses in doga I find very challenging. I don’t seem to be build to do these ones right. For instance, my ribcage gets in the way. I have a very deep ribcage, you know, because one of my ancestors was a greyhound. When we do this one, for instance, M is nearly flat on the ground, her nose almost touching the yoga mat. For me this pose means stretching my legs very much and putting my tail in the air for balance:

The name of this pose is phalakasana. I think it sounds like something you could eat, something yummy with Indian spices in it. And maybe some yoghurt for a nice creamy touch.  I always get very hungry when we do doga together. Although I must admit I get hungry when doing any activity, not just doga. I love food.

Sea snacks

Hurray, the little crabs are back! There were a lot of them on the beach, yesterday. I saw some other dogs happily chewing and I ran to the shore to make sure they left enough for me. I am glad to say the crabs were abundant. I had to be quick, though, because the water came in:

Besides the crabs there was other sea food, too: all kinds of shells and little stars. But they don’t taste as well as crabs, so I leave them to the seagulls. Once I met a dog who ate a whole jellyfish and got very sick because of it. Eat a jellyfish!!! He was not a very bright dog, that one.

Cargobike special

Look what we found on our walk this week:

Cargobike herring

It is an old fashioned cargobike that is used to transport herring! You know, the absolutely delicious delicacy the Dutch eat – and so do I? This cargobike was parked outside a fish shop (I couldn’t believe we just walked by and M did not buy fish for me, but we did. What a shame).

I think the flowery things are not on the bike when they use it for transporting fish, because that would make no sense. I do know what would be good to transport with the fish: me! I am a ferocious guarding dog, I am especially good at guarding food.  So they can hire me, next time they do a transport! That would be nice. And sensible. They don’t even have to pay me much, just some fish would be fine.

Girl friend

I told you earlier I have one human friend, his name is Mats. But it turns out I have a girl friend too!!! Her name is Karin and she is the niece of M and P. She lives in the United States and she came visiting us the past days. We did all kind of wonderful things together.

We went to the beach! We shared my cargobike for this:

We went to the beach together twice, even in the storm yesterday. We ran together and bounced a lot and she threw balls for me. And we did not stop playing when we got home, oh no! She kept on playing with me, from the time she woke up until she went to bed. It was very, very nice. M told us we are two little bouncing balls and that is true!

Karin will be returning to the States in a couple of days, she told me. That is too bad – she does not have her own dog there, only a troop of cats! Anyway, I hope she will visit us again soon. I am a very happy dog now, because I have a boy friend and a girl friend!

Favorites

Humans like to make lists, I notice as I am browsing the internet. They name their five favorite travel destinations, or the ten things you should do if you want to date a pretty girl. Some of these lists are very awkward. The one about dating, for instance. The most important thing is not in the list: give her yummy food! Humans can really miss the point, sometimes.

There are a lot of lists about food, too. I think this is a great idea, so I have been thinking about my favorite  things to eat. Here it is:

1 – Pigeon

This is my number one, although I must admit I never really tasted a pigeon. I did manage to catch one, lately, but I ended up with a lot of feathers in my mouth and no juicy meat, because the pigeon escaped. So maybe this is not a good number one for this list of favorite things. Maybe I should make a list of favorites I wish for, another time.

1 – Pizza

This is something I actually eat a lot and it is awesome. I haven’t figured out yet which topping I like best: cheese or meat or both. Maybe pizza with pigeon is the ultimate yummy food, but I can’t tell you now (see above). I know I should make a picture of a pizza to show you here, but in reality I am not good at making pictures of food. When I see food, I eat it. So the pictures of it all look the same:

This was a pizza with mozzarella and bacon, by the way. Delicious!

2 – Duck

Duck tastes really good, especially the ducks in France. The meat is juicy, with a good bite and wonderful taste. I hope we will visit France again, soon!

3 – Little crabs

I love little crabs. When I am lucky, I find them on the beach near our house. I search for them, they usually hide between the shells and seaweed on the shore. But I always find them, of course. I like them best when they are really fresh, just out of the water. Sometimes they try to run from me, but that is stupid. I am the fastest on the beach, so resistance is futile! One time I tried a larger crab, but that did not taste as well as the little ones. A bit too crunchy, in my opinion.

New friends

I was with Nicoline again, for one day. You know, the Dutch dog whisperer I told you about earlier? It was great! We went to the forest and to the beach. I made some new friends:

Nicoline 1

I really enjoyed myself. I thought the day was wonderful already, but the real surprise came at Nicoline’s place, where we went the late afternoon. In her garden I met this:

Nicoline 2

Yes, it is a dog, I smelled that all right. But a strange dog, truly! She has the legs of a small dog, but the body of a good solid one. Something odd happened to her nose, so it seems, and she is making funny noises because of that.  Anyway, she is to-ta-lly cool.

Nicoline 3

She has great personality. We played for hours and she, although small and still young, never gave up. She came bouncing back to me. I love bouncing! It was awesome.

Birthday!

Today is my birthday! Two years ago, I was born in Athens, Greece. I don’t remember any of this, of course. But I guess it was not a happy day for my mother, because we never saw her again –  me and my brothers and sisters were found without her and taken to the shelter of Isabella. Me and my brother survived (we are strong!!!) and grew up in the care of Isabella. I liked it there, I had lots of friends to bounce on, but I was glad to find a real home. As I wrote earlier, living in a shelter is not good for dogs who have Ambitions. And I have a lot of Ambitions, as you probably noticed by now.

This is what I looked like, four months old:

Foto Bubbles

In February 2013 I arrived in a freezing cold Holland. It was so cold I had to wear a coat. This was very embarrassing. Cool dogs do not wear clothes! Anyway, I am glad there are no pictures of this. I lived with a foster family for some time (in the picture you see my foster mother. Well, part of her) and then M and P came to adopt me. Now I have a home that is perfectly suited for realizing my Ambitions.

So today is a special day. I hope I will sleep a lot. And eat yummy things. And go to the beach. Maybe to the forest and the beach. And meet some friends to play with. Maybe even catch a pigeon! Oh yeah.
